First you should probably put val(txtHEIGHT.TEXT) that way it uses the value of the textbox and it won't give you as many errors, next try using parenthesis to separate different operations from one another like this:
ballsheight = (height + velocity * time) - (16 * time * time)
you forgot the gravity, important part in this, since it looks like vertical throw. which is 32.2 feet per second square, dim like wise:
gravity as double
gravity = 32.2
And maybe if you use inputboxes for the height and velocity, cause you where asked to ask for those values.
Like wise:
height=val(inputbox("What was the ball's initial height?")
velocity=val(inputbox("What was the ball's initial velocity?")
Try using:
finaltime
instead of:
ballsheight
Since you want to know aprox. haow long the ball takes to impact the ground again.
Another thing, if you put:
ballsheight=height + 0.1
It will change the value of the balls final height, not the height in the formula, do you follow?
it should be more like:
Do While ballsheight > 0
height = height + 0.1
ballsheight = ((height + velocity) * time) - (16 * (time * time))
impact = ((ballsheight + velocity) * time) - (16 * (time * time))
Loop

listMotion.Items.Clear()
listMotion.Items.Add("The ball will hit the ground after")
listMotion.Items.Add("approximately " & impact & " seconds")

I'm really messed up now and I think you are as well,so I'm going to try writing how i think it should be like:

Dim velocity, height, impact, time, finaltime as double

height=val(inputbox("What was the ball's initial height?")
velocity=val(inputbox("What was the ball's initial velocity?")
time=0.1
gravity=32.2
finaltime=(0 - (velocity / gravity)
impact= finaltime * 2

listMotion.Items.Clear()
listMotion.Items.Add("The ball will hit the ground after")
listMotion.Items.Add("approximately " & impact & " seconds")
