While no flip flops are made for running — there are much better ones available than the flat thin ones that cause foot fatigue if worn too long. See pecheblu.com for a line of flip flops that use a sports shoe base so they give more support, more cushioning and better traction. Ours have arch supports, heel wells, an edge wall to keep toes protected and from sliding off and antimicrobial rubber to prevent odor.We are a new local New York company hoping to persuade consumers that they can have the comfort of flip flops with an athletic shoe base. I started the company because I couldn't find flip flops I really liked. We are trying to change how people think about flip flops and apply the technology of the last ten years in sports shoe design to flip flops. Go see pecheblu.com — if your feet don't feel comfortable, the rest of you can't either.

Story about doctors and the anti-choice movement relating to this. All through med. school two friends of mine (and their cohorts) were persistently targeted by Christian fundamentalist anti-choice groups. They both steered well clear – but not everyone did. Given this, it would be rather unwise to let doctors dispense ethical as well as medical advice.

Yahoo Answers is exactly as it states. People ask and answer questions. No one is getting paid to offer advice. People that do that have a ton of experts at their disposal. I do worry about people who ask questions about taking drugs.
If they're depending on YA, they could get some really bad advice.

Minimalists shoes with little or no heel and support. Those things are bad for feet. It sounds like you know the case though. Your sister should be like you and go barefoot as much as possible!

I have the opposite problem…my arches are so high that I too have trouble walking in certain shoes, and constantly twisted and sprained my ankles as a child to the point that I had to go to physio therapy.

And that's my suggestion to you, if you can't find a solution. They will give you certain exercises for your feet, tips for proper shoes, and check that your all aligned properly.

As for shoes for now, why not try cheap running shoes, those canvas ones with nothing so fancy as arch support in them? They're so flat, that I stumble around like you in ones with support, lol.

Today is the third day of the three day weekend cobbled together from happenstance that the Fourth of July fell on the weekend this year. In any case, I’m still in a bit of vacation mode; so this post won’t be as voluminous as you are used to. (Some of you are probably rejoicing at the lack of logorrhea.) I’m also working on my talk for the Science-Based Medicine workshops at TAM8. In fact, while working on my talk, I came across a little tidbit that forms the basis of this post. Blog bud PalMD once coined a truly apt term to describe a certain form of disclaimer that’s found on quack websites, namely the Quack Miranda Warning. Indeed, the quack Miranda warning has even wormed its way into the Rational Wiki. Here are a few examples. First, from Healing Water Works, which sells "alkaline ionized" water: These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA and as such shall not be construed as medical advice implied or otherwise.
